Sex is everywhere, but it can also be another taboo subject. When it comes to Tarot, sex can be anywhere in the cards. Doing readings in general is an intimate act in of itself. The Major and Minor Arcana are filled with sexual issues and contexts. Also certain suits and cards in the minor arcana scream sex or intimacy.
In the Major Arcana, two cards come to mind when dealing with sex as a topic: The Lovers and The Devil. The Lovers is about having a relationship and a union. The Lovers also shows a very strong sexual connection that goes beyond instant gratification and lust. The Devil lacks intense bond when it comes to intimacy that The Lovers has. The Devil represents bondage and wanting to be dominating. It also shows that one uses sex for gain.
Other cards in the Major Arcana that have a side dealing with with sexuality: The Fool (losing virginity or exciting lover)
The High Priestess (sex is more, it helps explore spirituality)
The Empress (sex for procreation)
The Chariot (dominating sexual relationship, similar to Tower and The Devil)
The Moon (fantasy, desire)
When dealing with suits in the Minor Arcana, Cups and Wands deal with passion, love, and sexuality. But the Swords and Pentacles can have sexuality in their card meanings as well. Here are some examples of sexuality and love within the Minor Arcana:
Two of Swords (you are your sexual partner have conflicting personalities)
Three of Swords (unfaithful lover)
Page of Swords (energetic lover)
Ace of Cups (overflowing sexual joy, pleased)
Two of Cups (in love or soon to be with soul mate)
Three of Cups (sexual ecstasy)
Seven of Cups (rewarding a sexual partner, sexually grateful)
Eight of Cups (love card, means love is spread within your life)
Queen of Cups (enjoys endless love making, very loving woman)
Four of Wands (firm relationship with intimate level)
Seven of Wands (sex magick and spells add to make more positive)
Ten of Wands (you attract many lovers)
King of Wands (strong sexual partner, true romantic)
Four of Pentacles (intimacy is wealthy in your solid relationship)
Five of Pentacles (protection, stable sexual partner)
Eight of Pentacles (add variety to your sex)
Most all of the cards in a deck can have sexual descriptions, but these are just some examples.
Sexuality is a major element in who a person is. Sexuality is more than the physical act of sex. It is intimacy, passion, and how a person loves. That type of spirituality and love can also be seen in the Wiccan traditions. Sex is natural and apart of instinct and desire. It is exploited and given a stigma because of society and the media, but do not forget it is an element of who you are.
