Birthstones and Meanings



Stones, crystals, and other similar elements can hold meanings and type of power that people tend to charish.  Birthstones are no exception.  Birthstones are assigned by month of birth, and some people hold the notion of them on a pedistole.  A lot of birthstone jewerly is made and marketed.  Birthstones in general are thought to bring good luck and health.  Birthstones were not always assigned by month, but they have been around for a very very long time. 

January - Garnet: meant to keep you safe during travel
February - Amethyst: has a variety of meanings like courage, sobriety, strength with love, and second sight
March - Aquamarine: thought to cure heart, liver, and stomach illnesses
April - Diamond: meant to bring everlasting love
May - Emerald: thought to help fertility, love, growth, and patience
June - Pearl: symbolizes the purity of love
July - Ruby: meant to protect you from evil and bring intense passion and love
August - Peridot: brings strength to hopes and dreams
September - Sapphire: thought to pretect against poison, brings strength and wisdom
October - Opal: symbolizes faithfulness and confidence
November - Topaz: symbolizes affection and intimacy
December - Turquoise: brings good fortune and success

There are many different variations of what certain stones can mean.  They are also different ideas about what birthstones belong to what month.  For example, some people consider November to have the stone Citrine which brings money and success.  Different jewerlers even market different stones. This is just an overview of some simple meanings.  Stones are fascinating and can be thought of has charms.  If you invest faith into their meanings, they can truely make you feel a certain way.  I believe stones carry elements that most people overlook.  They are meaningful.
