Astrology is how the planets and their movements affect us. Astrology is way more complex than those newpaper or magazines make it seem. The complex nature is so intense that being an expert would take years. There are some things in astrology that can be easily learned, but astrology can change. Valentines day is approaching. People use that cheesey line "what's your sign." When people talk about their astrological sign, they are really saying which sign of the zodiac the sun was in when they were born. It is neat to know that astrological signs do play off of each other and some really are more well matched than others. However, this is where one of the many complex issues of astrology comes in. Just because someone is an aquarius and a taurus are though to be compatible, it doesn't mean they are soul mates. You are more than just an aquarius or taurus. You have a rising sign, a sun sign, a moon sign, and even more elements that play into that. Besides, people are not always 100% like those signs describe. The astrology signs are really interesting and accurate sometimes, but things change and shift like the moon and planets. I do admit those love charts are interesting. I am not an expert on any of this, but I do want to talk about love, sex, and compatibility. I wrote a blog before called "Let's Talk About Sex Baby" that had some cards dealing with sex. Around Valentines day love, compassion, desire, and certainly sex is in the air and one some peoples minds. Some major cards that deal with sex and intimacy are The High Priestess, The Empress, and The Moon. They are special to women because they show their true prowess in a positive light. When it comes to love with sweeter and simpler emotions cards like the Two of Cups and the Ten of Cups really bring out your romantic side.
Astrology has elements of passion and love like Tarot does. Magazines like Cosmo will give you tidbits of sexual astrology. People wonder how it is possible to gather someones sexual nature through astrology. Sexuality, like astrology, is a science. It has complexities. There is no way to know everyone's wants, needs, desires, fantasies, and style of sexual expression. A big part of our sexual selves deals with instinct, but there are other elements as well. Mars plays a role in our sexuality. Not only does the position of Mars play into this, but Venus and the Moon do as well. Venus is the planet of love, romance, and pleasure. The Moon deals with our emotions. It is safe to say that the planets and there points of position play into our sexuality.
Mars. The sign of Mars shows us the style in which we express our sexual nature.
Venus. The sign of Venus shows us some of the important "trappings" and foreplay that helps us get in the mood for sex.
Moon. The sign of our Moon shows us some of our underlying emotional needs that may express themselves as sexual fantasies and needs.
Also, an element of the sky and mythology play into sexuality too. Eros, which is an asteroid, can shed some light on what are our turn-ons and our erotic nature. Eros is the god of sexual love and desire. He was considered irresistable. In Roman mythology, he was considered "Cupid," and in Greek mythology he was winged and described with all of the same elements of "Cupid."
If you go online or look in magazines you can find you astrological love and sex signs/compatiblities. You can also see what Eros in your sign represents.
Just as a side note: Most of my studying on topics comes from books that I have. This post was easily written because of my reading and rereading of The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need. It is a huge book with tons of great information. Also, keep an eye out for posts about great Valentine's gift ideas. Thanks for reading!
